47. QUOTE MINUS ONE (Discussion, Collaboration)

Description: This is an introductory activity to get students thinking critically.

Application: This quick tool can be used in many subjects, especially language arts and social studies.

Process: Find meaningful quotes centered on topic of study. Form students into teams of three or four. Provide each group with the same quote but leave out a critical word.  Direct the students to guess what the missing word may be and allow time for groups to discuss possible answers.  At specified time, ask groups to share answers and finally reveal the actual quote. Discuss.
