57. THINK AND WONDER

(Writing, Reading, Feedback)

Description: Think and Wonder allows students to express, in a non-threatening way, points of confusion or misunderstandings.

Application:  Insert the thinking person graphic in text at various points throughout a reading.

Process: Create a text with the thinking person graphic interspersed throughout. Instruct students that when they come across the graphic, they need to pause, reflect on the text, and write an “I wonder” question in the thinking bubble.  Repeat as necessary.  Challenge students that claim they have no confusion to anticipate where confusion might exist for others and write a wonder statement.
