81. TRUST & BELIEVE (Writing, Discussion)

Description: This technique allows students to take risks and answer questions but also clarifies or expands those answers so that students have trustable information to use as a study device.

Application: Use this organizer when students need to think but ultimately need correct information.

Process:  Provide students with a graphic organizer that has an “extra” column labeled
“T & B” (Trust & Believe). Set up organizer so that students can respond in individual cells.  Once they write and/or review answers, guide the discussion by displaying the “correct information” for them to write in the T & B column.   At the conclusion, ask critical questions such as “how close were you to the T & B answer?”  Optional approach: have an unlabeled column so that students do not anticipate the teacher giving the correct answers at the end of the activity.
