This month's work is thought-provoking and timely. Our last assignment looked at the common instructional framework that we use on a daily basis. For our vets, working with Emaze was the vehicle by which our strategies were presented to the more junior members of the team. The Newbies did a deeper review of the framework with special emphasis on the rationale of using the strategies. The overall message from most educators was that the strategies provide a common structural foundation by which Cross Creek teachers teach and students learn. Administration also looked at the framework, but with a different point of view and that was how to help new hires become versed in the model as soon as possible. The faculty agreed that sharing a common language of instruction makes the program work better.
This month we will focus on the recruitment and application process of Cross Creek. Again, we are going to break up our team into Veterans and Newbies. Administration will join the Newbies for this PD. Recruitment and selection/lottery of students can be the most stressful endeavors of early college life. The process is multi-stepped and unwieldy, but each educator, in various capacities, works diligently because of its importance. Every student who applies deserves to be considered and without a doubt, each application is treated as gold. Instructions: 1.
