20. POWER THINKING (Reading, Writing, Feedback)

Description: Power Thinking is an alternative outlining format that groups information in a hierarchical manner.

Application:  Use Power Thinking as an effective way for students to plan essays, proofread for sufficient details, and/or to check for depth of understanding.

Process: Review the outline style using an easily understandable example, emphasizing sentence structure.  Allow students to practice the technique before assigning a reading to be graded and assure them that outlines will improve with frequency of use.
