29. FRIEND OR FOE? (Questioning, Discussion, Collaboration)
Description: Friend or Foe is an adaption of the popular Family Feud TV game.
Application: Use this as a review game for most subjects.
Process: Prepare a list of questions based on a unit or topic of study. Divide and separate the class into two teams. Have one student from each team come to the front and face each other across a flat surface such as a desk. Review the game procedure. 1) When the question is asked the first player to slap a hand down on the desk gets a chance to answer. 2) If the player is correct, his team gets the point. If he is incorrect, the other team may talk among themselves to come up with one answer. 3) If they get it right, they get the point, but if the team gets it wrong, no one gets the point and a new set of players comes to the front and the game continues. At the end of the game, tally the points and review strengths and weaknesses.
