30. USING TECH: TWIDDLA (Collaboration, Discussion, Feedback)
Description: Twiddla is a website of collaboration. Its beauty is in its simplicity and accessibility: no plug-ins or downloads, no need to work around complex firewalls, no advanced scheduling. Its only requirement is a computer with an Internet connection and a web browser. The capabilities are endless.
Application: Use this website as a real-time collaboration tool for students. Twiddla can be used in all subjects including mathematics.
Process: Go to www.twiddla.com and explore the website, clicking on the “Sandbox” to experiment with the capabilities offered. With a topic, website, photo, document or other media for collaboration in mind, go to Twiddla, start a new meeting (with one click), invite students through the built in email, and navigate to the webpage in that Twiddla session. Direct the students to join the collaboration event by clicking the link in their email. Depending on the parameters of the assignment, allow students to upload pictures, write, draw, and navigate within it. Remind students to save their work by taking a snapshot as it can be reloaded into Twiddla for further tweaking.
