Description: Adapted from Dr. John Bransford’s work, D.E.A.L With It! is a problem-solving technique.
Application: Because almost everything in life is fraught with problems, this protocol gets to the heart of problem-solving through analysis and decision making. This technique can be used in an academic or an advisory situation.
Process: Create a scenario that presents a particular problem. Provide each student with a copy of DEAL WITH IT! Problem Solver Template (addendum below). Share the scenario and instruct students, individually or in groups, to complete the graphic organizer. Discuss findings.
