41. TEAM BINGO (Questioning, Collaboration, Feedback, Discussion)
Description: This version of BINGO adds a requirement that increases the spirit of teamwork in a competitive format.
Application: Play Team BINGO as a review game.
Process: Before game day, create at least forty questions with answers (preferably one to two word answers) relevant to the study topic. Cut questions into pieces and place in the proverbial hat. Prepare BINGO chips. Make at least ten additional high-level “team” questions with answers and set aside. On game day, post a list of the answers where students can see them. Hand out a blank BINGO card (addendum below), one per student, and tell them to fill out the card selecting terms randomly. Divide students into groups of four or five. Call the question and allow students enough think time to find and cover the answer with a chip. Remind students that when a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line is covered, BINGO is shouted. Warn students not to clear cards until told to do so and verify the BINGO. If verified, tell the entire team to huddle and be prepared to answer one “team” question. (If correct, team gets two points. If incorrect, the BINGO game continues until a line is covered and the process is repeated.)
