41. TRUTH OR LIE! (Discussion)
Description: This adaption of a classic icebreaker allows students to get to know each other in a fun way.
Application: Use Truth or Lie as an event-opening activity when there are many students.
Process: Create a ½ sheet laminated card with a “1” on one side and a “2” on the other. On class day, hand out an index card to each student. Direct all students to write down two statements about themselves: one true and the other a lie. Remind them that the more realistic the lie, the harder it will be to figure out the truth. Tell students to hold their cards and gather in a circle. Ask a student to read his two statements and tell the entire group to hold up the card number showing which statement is the truth, that is, either statement one or two. Ask the student to reveal what the truth statement is and a little background. Randomly solicit responses, if appropriate.
