48. BEST. TEST. EVER! (Feedback, Writing, Discussion)
Description: Best. Test. Ever! is a method in which the teacher adds reflection questions at the end of a test for students to judge their perceived performance on it.
Application: Use on regularly scheduled tests, such as unit tests, so that students may see trends in performance and adjust accordingly.
Process: Create reflection questions and add to the test (or display on board). On test day, explain the additional questions at the end of the test and that they must be answered. (Incorporate into test grade or give a separate grade.) After test has been graded, allow time for students to review test and ask them to look at the grade and their comments. Ask questions such as “Did the grade match your reflections?” “Was there anything that could be done differently?” “How much did preparation count in your overall grade? What will you do differently, if anything, on the next test?
