59. WRITE ALL OF THE WRONGS (Writing, Feedback, Discussion)
Description: This unusual activity focuses students on the perspective of what NOT to do.
Application: Use this for video or other audio/visual methods.
Process: Have a video that specifically shows something that has a clear undesirable outcome (such as Custer’s Last Stand). Before viewing, give students a standard index card and direct them to list all of the “wrongs” (contributing factors) that led to the outcome. Tell students to use one side of the card ONLY. After viewing the video, ask students to recount what they saw as wrong. Follow up with classroom discussion of how to make it right or ask students to jot down a solution to one of the “wrongs” on the other side of the index card.
